The Veterinary Innovations Transforming Animal Health and Livelihoods (VITAL) 2 is a GALVmed funded programme that aims to improve vaccination coverage for ruminant livestock in Kenya by targeting key diseases such as PPR, LSD, CBPP, CCPP & Sheep and Goat Pox(SGP)

Priority Diseases

LUMPY SKIN DISEASE (LSD)

This is a viral disease affecting cattle. it causes fever, skin nodules, and serious production losses. The disease spreads quickly in areas with many bitting insects.

SHEEP & GOAT POX (SGP)

SGP is a viral disease affecting sheep and goats, characterized by skin lesions and reduced productivity.

CONTAGIOUS BOVINE PLEUROPNEUMONIA (CBPP)

CBPP is a serious bacterial disease of cattle that affects the lungs and breathing system. It spreads easily when animals mix during grazing, watering or livestock markets.

CONTAGEOUS CAPRINE PLEUROPNEUMONIA (CCPP)

CCPP is a highly contageous respiratory disease of goats that causes severe pneumonia and high death rates.

PESTE DES PETITS RUMINANTS

PPR is a highly contageous viral disease of goats and sheep that spreads rapidly and can cause large outbreaks.
